Baby Photoshoot (4–11 months old)

A baby photoshoot captures the different stages of your baby’s first year: the first smiles, the moment they can confidently hold their head up, learning to sit and crawl, and beginning to pull themselves up while holding on to support. The session is planned around your baby – their age, personality and the skills they have already developed.

How does a baby photoshoot work?
Before the session, I always ask about your baby’s age, daily routine and the skills they have already developed: whether they can hold their head up confidently, sit, crawl or are just starting to pull themselves up while holding on to support. This helps me plan suitable setups, prepare outfits and organise the session around what your baby is comfortable doing at this stage.
Over the years, I have learned that every baby reacts to the studio differently. Some start smiling straight away and look around with curiosity. Others need a little time in their mother’s or father’s arms to understand that they are safe and that nothing suspicious is going on. That is why I do not expect smiles from the very first minute, and I never rush the baby.
During the session, we take portraits of your baby, change a few outfits and always leave time for family photos. If your baby becomes tired, hungry or simply decides that it is time for a break, we pause. You can feed them, change their clothes, play for a while or simply sit together.
Your baby does not need any special preparation, nor do they need to look at the camera or smile on command. My job is to find the right pace and photograph your baby exactly as they are at this stage: cheerful, serious, curious or a little cautious. These are often the photographs that families love the most.
Why do parents choose me?
I have been photographing newborns, babies and families in Tallinn since 2016, and I know how differently children can react to a new environment. That is why I do not follow a strict script. Instead, I adjust the pace of the session to suit the baby.
For every photoshoot, I prepare suitable outfits and setups in advance. The studio has clothing, toys and props for babies, and throughout the session I help parents with posing and answer any questions that may come up.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Baby photoshoot: when is the best time for a session?
There is no single perfect age. At 4–6 months, babies still have very soft, distinctly baby-like features, which are beautiful for gentle portraits. Once your baby can sit independently, there are usually more possibilities for different outfits and setups. At 10–11 months, the session becomes more active and often reveals much more of your baby’s personality.
I have written more about each stage in the article “Best Age for Baby Photos: What to Expect at 4, 6, 9 and 11 Months”. -
When should I book a baby photoshoot?
It is best to book around one month in advance, especially if you would like a specific date or a weekend appointment. Before confirming the booking, I will ask about your baby’s age and daily routine so that we can choose the most suitable time for the session.
-
Can the whole family take part in the photoshoot?
Yes. Mum, dad and older children are all welcome to join the session. The Mini Package includes one family portrait. The Full Package includes a family portrait as well as individual photographs of the baby with each family member.
Before the session, I will help you choose outfits so that everyone looks well coordinated in the photographs. -
Who is responsible for supervising older siblings during the photoshoot?
Parents are responsible for supervising older children throughout the session. While I am photographing the baby, other children should not be left unattended in the studio.
-
What happens if my baby does not smile?
That is completely fine. The studio is a new place, and some babies need a little time to look around and become comfortable with the photographer.
I do not expect smiles from the first few minutes, and I never try to make a baby laugh at any cost. At first, your baby can stay in your arms and quietly get used to the new surroundings. A smile often appears a little later, once the baby feels more secure.
Serious, curious and slightly cautious portraits can be just as beautiful and often show your baby’s personality especially well. -
What should we wear for a baby photoshoot?
I prepare outfits for your baby in advance to suit the planned setups. For family photographs, I recommend choosing clothes in a coordinated colour palette, without large text, logos or bold contrasting patterns.
You do not need to dress identically. It is enough for the colours and shades to work well together. -
What should we bring for a baby photoshoot?
Please bring your baby’s usual food, water, nappies, wet wipes, a dummy, a favourite toy and a change of clothes. Everything else, including outfits and props for your baby, is available in the studio.
-
How do we choose the photographs?
After the session, I will send you a private online gallery where you can select your favourite photographs. You can select your favourite images, up to the number included in your chosen package.
The selected photographs will then be individually edited and retouched. The finished images will be delivered in digital format through a private online gallery. -
Can we purchase additional photographs?
Yes. If you love more photographs than your package includes, you can add as many extra images as you wish.
Each additional individually edited photograph costs 8€. -
How long will it take to receive the photographs?
Once you have made your selection in the online gallery, I will begin the individual editing process. The finished gallery is usually delivered within 2–3 weeks after you select your photographs.
During particularly busy periods, the turnaround time may be slightly longer. I will always let you know the current delivery time in advance.
